Your brand is important to you. As you’ve lovingly crafted your brand, you’ll most likely want to make sure your school URL matches your domain. By default, Archy will provide you a URL under the “archy.digital” sub-domain. You can customise how you want this domain to look for example “school.archy.digital”. However if you want to use your brand’s URL, you’re in the right place.
- Step one - settings
You’ll find the setting for your domain in “Your Site”, and then by navigating to “Domains” in the top menu.
- Step two - DNS settings
Now this step might appear to be complicated, but it’s really quite easy. You’ll want to make sure you have admin access to your domain registrar in a new tab or window. Your registrar will be a company like GoDaddy, Name.com etc.
1. Navigate to your domain registrar, sign in and click on the domain you want to use. Once you’ve clicked on it, you’ll have the option to edit your domain’s DNS settings.
- On your DNS settings, click “add” or the plus button to add a new record. Select an “A” record. In the first field named “Host”, type in your sub-domain. For example, if your domain is “digilearning.com” you might want your sub-domain to be “school”, giving you the domain “school.digilearning.com”
If you want your root domain (in this example: digilearning.com) to point to your Archy site, simply put an “@” symbol in the Host field. - With your new A record waiting for information, navigate back to Archy and click “Setup Instructions”. On the instructions pop up, Archy will give you a series of numbers like “3.105.73.122“ - copy that number and navigate back to your DNS settings.
- With your Archy value copied, paste it into the “points to” or “value” field and click save.
- Checking your new domain
Once you’ve followed the steps above, Archy will proceed to connect everything up. Your custom domain will take about 20 mins to be ready to use. Grab a coffee, read a book or put your feet up.
